A blow-out...

58-42.

That's right... fifty-freakin-eight percent of my white-collar coworkers seem to enjoy (or, at least, "understand") the benefits and protections afforded by my union and our contract. Sure is different than the past two certification elections, when we won by less than one percent.

I guess more of us are starting to realize that, while it may not be perfect, union representation is the best of our current available alternatives. I just wish more of the 58% majority would join my union.

Comments:
It seems that everytime the anti-union warriors in Wichita force the SPEEA decertification question, the margin of victory gets bigger. They are starting to resemble this guy:

Congratulations!!!

Actually, only forty-six percent seem to enjoy because twenty-one percent didn't bother to vote. And it seems that the no_WTPU could only get fifty-six additional votes added to the 546 signatures they needed to start the decert process in the first place.

Well Bill,
Can you do higher math? Let's see, a $1,000 bonus the company did not have to give us versus 16% of 2005 Spirit wages? And another lucky 260 people received even more money. I thought you said that Nigel told you we would all be treated the same in regards to bonus. Well, the decert folks had it right. In the next 6 years, most folks represented by SPEEA stand to lose anywhere from $25,000 to $60,000. I sure hope your guaranteed position in the union makes up for it and all the money you are losing your brothers and sisters.
