I don't think that word means what you think it means... 


The Commercial Aviation blog on the Aviation Week site has a story about WTPU negotiations.

They're a bit confused on some details -- they originally identified our current 3-year counter-proposal as being Spirit's offer -- but they've done a pretty decent job of summarizing our story thus far. There's one quote from Spirit near the end of the story, however, that had me shaking my head in exasperation:
Spirit says it will treat the WTPU “with the same dignity and respect with which we have treated” other bargaining units.

Spirit's contract offer to the IAM last year was neither dignified nor respectful… nor was it accepted; the contract was implemented only because the 57% rejection wasn't enough to trigger a strike under the IAM's rules, which was their only option. Fortunately, SPEEA has more options available than "all or nothing" and can more easily respond with the same dignity and respect that Spirit's offer shows us.
